Annual Image Competition

This year’s image competition will be a standalone event as our next Annual Conference is not until March 4 – 7, 2011. This is a FREE event but due to limited seating we do require your RSVP, immediately! Please only RSVP IF you ARE coming. Don't need to know if you AREN'T, thanks!   RSVP HERE

We need 6 volunteers to work the print committee. You will be required to arrive at 9a on Sunday the 27th and will be done when it is over. If you are interested please call Tom Henn at 719-481-8529 or email him at tl2bfree@hotmail.com . Print committee is another excellent way to learn from the image competition. For your time we will thank you profusely!!

For the first time in PPC history you will be able to submit either prints or digital files. Four images is the maximum number of entries you are allowed but can be a combination of prints and/or digital files. PPA is establishing new rules for print and image competition. We are going to follow these new rules so we ask for your patience as we all learn together.

Print Case / DVD Entry fee - this includes out of state entries if you are a member of your state association

  • If you attended the March “Print Critique” event you will be receiving a certificate for $15 off your print case fee. Watch your email for that certificate, soon.

Prints:
Physical photographs may be entered. Prints must be a minimum of 80 square inches (i. e. 8x10) to a maximum of 480 square inches with 24” being the maximum length. (i. e. 20x24). Unique cropping is encouraged as long as they fall within these parameters. For example, sizes of 12’ x 24”, 16” x 24”, 20” x 20” are all ok sizes to enter.

Prints must be shipped or dropped off to Tom Henn in a print case or sturdy box that can be reused to return your prints to you. Paper envelopes or portfolios will NOT accepted.

Digital Images:
Images MUST be shipped on a CD or DVD to Tom Henn. Email or online FTP submissions will NOT BE ACCEPTED.
You may submit up to 4 digital images per these requirements, NO ACCEPTIONS. Digital files MUST be FULL size of your image at 300 PPI, JPG, NO compression (12 setting) ONLY! No other formats please. In other words if you were to have a print made and it is 16” x 20”, the digital file MUST be 16” x 20” at 300 PPI. Images MUST be named in this way: 01_title_lastname.jpg, 02_title_lastname.jpg, etc.
EXAMPLE: 01_prettychicken_henn.jpg (filenames must NOT have spaces or other symbols except the underscore)

Registering your entries:
Follow this link http://ppgmf.org/salons/ppc/index.html and fill out the form with your info. Please note that you will need a thumbnail image of each of your entries regardless of print or digital file entry. These thumbnails need to be no larger than 720 pixels at the longest measurement of your image at 72 PPI. They MUST be JPGs as the registration software will reject any other format. If you have previously named your files appropriately all you need to do is reduce your original files to this size for uploading. This is ONLY for registration purposes. Remember, if you are entering digital files you will be sending the actual entries via CD/DVD.
