Creating Client Evangelists - Tanja Butler-Melone

Getting clients in the door is the first step, turning those clients into evangelists for your studio is the best step. We'll talk about all the "little" steps that help make clients love you and your studio, because when they love you, they are your best marketing resource!

Prepare Your Images for Competition - Rick Avalos, Tom Henn, Jeff Johnson & Gary Phillips

Every time we have offered this program there proved to be tremendous results at the annual print competitions. Many of the entries were First Timers and many of those images scored very well!  We have also noticed a marked increase in Merits and Loan images at the PPA International level by PPC members. This program is a must for anyone thinking about competing!

Another huge benefit from image competition is the fact that you will become a more creative, effective and confident photographer. Just ask any of PPC's veteran Masters and competition entrants. Part of the key of realizing these benefits is not only entering your images but also attending the live competition to listen as the judges offer their expertise on all of the images they judge. Then after the competition is over, you have the opportunity to grab a judge or two and ask them more specifically about your images. This process is very important to becoming a more successful competition veteran and photographer.

Program Schedule:

12:30p - Registration at Contemporary Expressions Studio, 1320 27th Street, Ste G - Denver, CO 20205 - MAP
1p - 3p - Creating Client Evangelists
3p - 4:30p - Diner break (On your own)

4:30p - Done - Preparing Your Prints for Competition - A short presentation on the actual process of image competition including:

* Image Competition overview

* What kind of images score well

* How to physically prepare prints / digital files

* PPC/PPA Print Rules and how to decipher them

* Scoring and awards

* Other details good to know

YOU are invited to submit up to 4 digital images for this very informal, informative and extremely helpful critique opportunity. Several of PPC's Masters of Photography will be on-hand for the critique including:  Rick Avalos, Jeff Johnson, Tom Henn, and Gary Phillips. They will gracefully yet constructively critique your images to help you build confidence in entering competitions and help to raise your print scores through the roof.

Here's what you will need to do. You can submit up to FOUR images for critique. FIRST thing to do is register for the event and then follow these instructions (BELOW) to submit your images. This is a digital format so NO PRINTED PHOTOGRAPHS will be allowed. And you MUST register and submit online. Images submitted at the event will NOT be accepted, please!

Please prepare your images as if you were actually entering a print competition. This means do ALL of the retouching, image enhancement, presentation and more. If you are new and not aware of the requirements for entering, well just submit 4 images and we'll help you with the rest.

Image Submission Instructions:

Jill Bailey will be the one handling your images. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE prepare your images as best you know how and follow the instructions carefully.

Name your files yourlastname-xx.jpg where as the xx is the image number. So a file will look like this bailey-01.jpg. This naming convention makes it easy to retrieve any file of yours if needed.

For this submission, keep your files to about 1000 pixels on the long side at 300DPI, with a jpeg setting of 10. Pando limits us to 1GB for a single transfer - you should be able to get everything in one transfer by zipping or compressing your images into one file.

If you do not already have a Pando account, go to www.pando.com and download the free version of Pando - it is a program that facilitates sending large or multiple files via the Internet. When you open it, there is a drop-down menu at the upper left that says "Share New." Choose Email. A dialog box will open in which you enter this email address – president@ppcolorado.com. Drag the images to send into the indicated box. Make the subject line "PPC Image Critique." This is IMPORTANT as it will send the images to the correct folder on Jill’s end. It is not a disaster if you forget, but it will help tremendously.

REMEMBER . . .

STEP ONE - REGISTER FIRST

STEP TWO - Follow Jill's PANDO.com directions EXACTLY.
